Welcome back. I'm busy doing my homeschool planning for next year but I'll be here occasionally keeping you updated. You may find just what you came for and if you don't, then keep checking back!
Bought with his own money, my creative son purchased a pinhole camera kit. After he opened it he realized that he was going to need some help putting it together. Instead of our regular science/art studies that day we eagerly looked over the directions. After two hours of gluing, scraping, folding, clamping and waiting for glue to dry, the pinhole camera was finished.
Our home is an atmosphere of learning. My children delight in learning about new things. My son was amazed that he was making a camera and he asked many questions about the parts as we put this together. We talked about the importance of light and darkness, shutterspeed and stillness. We laughed and concentrated. But, most of all, we created a memory together.
Homeschooling has taught us to try new things and go on new adventures. And, the best part about it is that we get to do it together. When one of us is down, someone else lifts us up and reminds us that we are in this together. I hope after my kids leave home that they will take their love of learning and pursue it.
What do you do to encourage a love of learning in your home?

My kids come up with some of the most creative imaginative play, particularly relating to science (no surprise there!) I make sure I sit and listen to their presentations and take lots of pictures–they love that, and so do I! Thanks for submitting this to the Hands On Homeschool blog carnival.
